One of the benefits of our Macbooks is the inclusion of a program called "Quicktime" which is an application.
This application can be found by using the "searchlight" feature and tying in the name "Quicktime". The icon
is a big blue and black "Q". This program enables us to record the screen with video or to just take screen shots
as well. Here is a brief video tutorial showng how to find the application and how to create a basic screen-cast on the
mac.
In this training I will show you how to create a video and upload to youtube if you choose:
1.Search for "Quicktime Player" using the searchlight in the top right of the Safari browser. Click on the program in the results to open.
2.The top bar should now say "Quicktime Player" and you want to choose File>New Screen Recording> A Small Black Box will appear with red dot in the middle. This dot starts the recording. Choose to select full screen or select the intended area.
3. The most important part of this process is to change the audio setting for the microphone by clicking on the small arrow to the right. You want to choose and select the internal microphone as the microphone. You are now ready!
We will walk through this so don't worry!
Imovie & Youtube
To add text or entry graphics to your video you can place your Quicktime saved screencast into Imovie and use the edting tools to add text and entry graphics. You can just upload your video to a Youtube account and use the editing features embedded in Youtube to trim your clips and add text or links.
